“Cloud computing makes it possible for them to access enterprise-class capabilities with low initial investment and massive scalability,” Mr Berger commented. Speaking to Network World, he said this is because it allows firms to avoid the cost of investing in extra hardware and software. As a result, it can be effectively balanced against the needs and budgets of smaller companies.
This, he stated, means that cloud computing can be a “very wise” investment for these companies. He added that this allow small and medium-sized businesses to perform at a level that will enable them to compete with much larger rivals. Despite the advantages outlined by Mr Berger, Gartner Research believes that many companies in Australia are choosing to shun cloud computing programmes. The analyst said this marks a contrast with many firms in other countries, reports Computer World.
